  • 08-10-2008: On the August 7th round, Larry Ritter had his first hole-in-one on the par 3 hole #7.  Contrats on your accomplishment.

Final scoring round coming up this week.  Where did the season go?

  • 08-05-2008: Only two remaining weeks left to improve your position in your flight.  Good luck to all contenders.

  • 07-29-2008: I've caught up the scores and standings on the website after returning from my vacation (to hot Denver).  This week's round features a snack party after the round.  See you there!

    Notes from the League Secretary

    Hi All -

Last Thursday's mid-season party was a huge success.  The weather toyed with us a bit, but being the tough league that we are we were still able to not only finish nine holes, but went on to consume various veggies, burgers, dogs, brats, cookies and cakes, not to mention numerous beverages.  I did a quick tally today, and we had 48 of the current 58 City League members make an appearance at the party.  That is excellent turnout.  No wonder we're the best league.

Thanks to Partymeister Larry Ritter for another excellent party spread.  Thanks also to Grill Captain Steve Opal, Rich Bassett, maybe Jeff McCullagh and Kathy Shelton, and whoever else worked the grilling apparatus.  A special thanks also to my lovely wife Cindy for making cookies and cakes, and buying the veggie trays.  Thanks to anyone else who helped out anonymously.

  • 06-27-2008: Yesterday's round was officially declared a rain-out.  The league calendar has been revised.

  • 06-23-2008: Two important league details to remember... 1) Party night this week!, 2) No golf on July 3rd (next week).

  • 06-11-2008: The league Secretary Brad Cook requests that players be more agressive managing their playing time. 2:10 for the front nine and 2:20 for the back nine are the expected round times.

Also from Brad: I have two golf passes good for 18 holes+cart at Pierce Lake Country Club, and I have held a random drawing with the lucky winners ...

    • Howard Usitalo (new guy)
    • Dave Schwartz (old guy)
    Congratulations!

  • 06-03-2008: Scores and standings for week five updated and week six posted.

Mid-season party date to be announced on Thursday.

  • 05-29-2008: Notes from the league Secretary:

As we head into week #6, the latest news and comment ...

We had an awesome party #1 last week. Party Man Larry Ritter served up a plethora of tasty stuff from the grill and elsewhere, and many cool beverages were quaffed. Vegetables in non-potato-chip-form were also consumed, thanks to an "experimental" veggie tray (it was the green stuff). Thanks to everyone who helped with the grill and other duties.

You can check out the flights and initial standings in the black binder that will be with the scorecard box. I'll let you know when they hit the web site. (ed. They are here now.)

    A few final reminders ...
-Please write both first and last names (legibly) on your card
-Please record the number of putts on all par 3s
-Never ever leave a scorecard at the course anywhere but in the scorecard box. DO NOT leave it with a Pierce Lake employee. If there's no box, you need to e-mail or phone your score to the Scoremeister.

  • 04-15-2008: Budding on the new year, the City Golf League is getting ready to blossom into 2008.

Slots are still available.  Contact Brad Cook if you know of any interested golfers.

    Opening round, April 24th!
