Good to see a lot of familiar faces, and some new ones at our Grill. I was hoping more would come by. Thank you to all participants for respectful distancing from the hot food.

Four more weeks of league scoring seems too soon and five more weeks before the end of our season. Let's make our weeks remaining memorable.

Jon Sutherland has announced that the league is planning to begin the 2020 season on May 21st.

Here is the content of his message:

    Hello all!

It is with great pleasure that I am able to give you a start date for the 2020 season! We will begin play on the 21st of May. This is not my first choice, and it comes from the course. I have attached the letter they sent to league presidents.

Being that we are starting so late, we will only go 14 weeks, and we should then be done still in August. I do not know yet if the pavilion will be available for us, but I can tell you that in the early part of the season it will not. That being said, we will play it by ear on whether we have barbeques or not as the season goes on.

To that end, I will be refunding everyone the two weeks of league dues, and possibly money for the parties also. Prizes and golf balls will be the same, and I should be able to get those to everyone on the last day of play. The refunds I will wait on until we know if we are able to have parties, so I don;t have to write two sets of checks.

There are guidelines for play that this letter has some of, but they will keep us informed as the time gets closer as to any other restrictions in place. Dan thinks by May 15th we might have carts!

There was a lot of interest in the earliest start times for the league, and so I am in negotiations with Dan to get us an earlier start time. Please, please, please, if you are out early... DON'T HOLD UP PLAY! I know it is hard sometimes, but looking for a ball in the marsh does no one any good. I can't tell you how many complaints I had last year about slow play. Please play ready golf, walk to your own ball, not everybody's, and if your ball is lost, then it is lost! Move on! Slow groups may be asked to play later in the evening. I know, Jon you are so harsh! But we have to accommodate everyone and make sure everyone has a great time on Thursday nights!

I will see everyone on the 21st, and I hope that you and your families are safe!

    Jon Sutherland
